ADVERTISEMENT PROFILES We now have a sub-section called 'Category Placements', which allow targeting ads/content to specific categories. We now have a new placement option, 'widget', in which WPTT will place the ad to a special widget belonging to WPTT. If no ad/content is detected then the widget does not display. You will have to manually add the widget to your sidebar for it to take affect. TOP SEARCHES I've improved the way we add top searches to the bottom of the post, and also added the ability to either display the top searches for the local page or the top global searches, as well as added sorting and limiting and linking options. All this capability is now available in a custom WPTT widget that allows you to define the settings... As you can tell I've finally learned the art of widget development... Muahaha. It was brought to my attention that there is a free plugin called SEO Searchterm2 that handles the displaying of topsearches, but I was unaware of this plugin when I first started developing the feature in, and now that they are in as another customer pointed out, it makes since to keep as much functionality under one plugin to reduce the overhead of having multiple plugins... so this in mind I decided to go ahead and improve the topsearches functionality to match the SEOSearchterm2... the only thing different is the lack of statistics... but for this I still prefer Rank Tracker to handle my search engine gathering statistics.
Improved Global Link Cloaking The global auto link cloaking has been improved to do the following: Instead of generating a a random string of 7 characters to behave as the permalink; eg: http://www.myblog.com/go/a7gmone , we now check the anchor of the link we are cloaking and use that to generate a permalink. It’s said that this consideration will most likely increase clickthrough rates, probably yielding the the fact that the appropriate keywords are contained within the link structure. Because it’s potential to slip into Black Hat use. But still we gotta ask, why is it Grey Hat? Well, for it’s potential to to be used in some super crafty ways that are hardly black hat at all. Lets look at what we got. We now have the ability to load an additional cookie from a remote page separate from the page we are linking someone to through our masked links. We might ask. How in the world could this be used for anything but piggy backing unwarranted cookies onto our traffic? We the answer can be described in a case, like so: Say that we want to promote a product by linking a visitor to a specific page somewhere, anywhere that provides great information and might convert. Well we can create a masked link that sets the cookie, and send them on to the content. This gives us freedom to break out of the traditional landing pages provided by affiliate provides and opens us up to nearly unlimited options of potential landing page. On the counter side you could use this feature to piggy-back other people’s custom sales pages and blog postings, there-by competing with them. This easily could break the law of do unto others. But in perspective it could be argued that the traffic you instigate is traffic that may never have made it to the non-owned location anyway… so no harm is done besides inciting a little misconceived jealously… but there are counter arguments to that as well… and how can you stop your hair from turning grey? Love, surf, and make money in the meantime right. Still, that is just one case example of how propperness can slip away or remain in tact. At the end of the day there is no telling what kind of useful tactics might come out of a simple feature like this. It should be noted that currently we are unable to use this feature without cloaking the target URL as well. That means that the URL in the address bar will remain as the masked link and not convert over to the URL we are redirecting visitors to. 3.9.1.2 Update Information Here are the recent additions to WP Traffic Tools. IMPROVEMENTS ON LINK PROFILES. Improved the code to be able to ignore text strings within title=” and alt=” html. We can now optionally mask the URLs within our keyword auto-linking affects. This will allow us to auto-link keywords to an actual remote URL rather than masking that URL before hot-linking. We now can add developer notes to each profile, which will allow us to tag information to profiles for whatever reason we might need. IMPROVEMENTS TO THE ADVERTISEMENT MODULE We now have two widget locations to assign ad content to. For those of you currently using the WPTT Widget to place ads, you might be required to resave your profile and check your widgets area to make sure it is ready to accept ads using the new system. Latest Updates - Popunder Profiles Latest Updates: Popunder Profiles We now have a popup profiles section that allows us to quickly add iframe based unblockable popups and unblockable popunders. The idea of having unblockable popups is exciting to me because it is an affected way to promote an offer un-intrusively. As soon as a user clicks anywhere on the screen a popup will occur in a new browser and then arrange itself behind the current active browser so the user does not have to pause in their reading experience. I personally enjoy receiving popunder advertisements because It’s always interesting to see where this extra browser came from, and wonder how long it’s been chilling there behind the scenes. We also offer traditional blockable popups and popunders as well as one jquery popup. We’ll considering improving (adding more options to) the jQuery popups as time passes. Completely Restructured Interface WP Traffic Tools spans a couple of different areas and applications now. I thought it best to re-organize each module and provide better internal documentation. Everything looks a whole lot better now. Added a couple of user requested features Ability to add site based exceptions to global link masking Ability to disable redirection profile if no referring URL is detected. Added ‘exclude these ids’ section to Top Searches, as well as fixed some bugs. Added redirect delay option to redirection profiles. LATEST UPDATES URL ROTATING FOR REDIRECT PROFILES We can now set redirect profiles to accept multiple URLs. The redirect URL that a user is redirected to will be selected at random from the list. KEYWORDS TO TAGS We now have the option to capture incoming keywords and set them as tags to our posts. AUTO MASK LINKS IN WIDGETS, HEADERS, FOOTERS We now have options to enable/disable auto-link-masking on text-widgets, the content in our header.php file, and the content in a theme’s footer.php file. ONLY MASK LINKS THAT MEET CERTAIN RULES We now have the option to only mask external links that meet a certain criteria (strings found within the url). We can leave this field blank to continue masking all external links. LIGHT STATISTICS FOR POPUP PROFILES We now display the fire count for each popup profile, keeping track of each time a popup profile is fire. Also, popup animation has been slowed down from a half a second to a whole second and the popup will zoom in from the center of the screen rather than the top-right of the screen. IMPROVED JQUERY STYLE POPOVER Recently we found some trouble with the jQuery popover modal box not rendering correctly with internet explorer. The jQuery modal class we were using was not very fancy, it was a simple background dim with hard cut square iframe presentation, and was really only meant to be the first drafts… a placeholder until we can find something better.Today, in order to tidy up the discovered bugs, I went ahead and replaced the old class with a new one (The FancyZoom Class) and modified it to support our iframes. I think it’s the same class the wptext2ads plugin used, but I’m not sure.Here's a link demonstrating it in action: Anyway it looks sharp, has a zoom in animation, and rounded corners to go ahead and give the popup that most-in-fashion presentational appeal. Big improvement. KEYWORD AUTO-LINKING & MASKED LINKS Discover the geolocation of visiting traffic and have auto linked keywords determine the best destination link the keyword to that location. For example, say you have an auto-keyword-linking profile setup on the term ‘Dog Collars’ and want to send UK visitors to Amazon.co.uk and US visitors to Amazon.com. We can do this with WPTrafficTools. Say you have created a masked link for link tracking and geosorting. We can create a link profile with two geo-targeted links and one non geotargeting link and have geo-targeting traffic sent to the appropriate link and have non-matches go to the non-geotargeted link! GEO REDIRECTING In WpTrafficTools we can create redirection profiles based on keywords detected in the referring URL. We can use this method to better route organic searches to pages we believe best for our visitors. Let’s take a look at how we can use geotargeting to improve our redirects. For visitors that meet our redirection criteria, we can now further check their geo-location to determine the best location to send them. For example, if we have a CPA Offer for the state of Georgia we can route our qualified traffic to the region code GA, while we would redirect our Alabama based traffic to the AL region code. We can also target cities and area codes. GEOTARGETING OUR ADVERTISEMENT PLACEMENTS WP Traffic Tools can already place ads based on keywords detected in content, referring urls, by category or category id. Now we can further constrain ad placements to only execute if they meet certain geo-targeting requirements. This can allow us to be extremely targeted with our ad placements. No other WordPress plugin offers such a comprehensive monetization toolset. GEOTARGETING OUR POPUP PROFILE. One of the bonus modules of WP Traffic Tools is the popup placement module which incorporates all of our placement technologies, and lets up provide jquery modal popups as well as unblockable popunders and unblockable popups. You can now download the plugin and buy the modules separately from inside or buy a the total package at a discount during registration. Latest Update - CPA Redirection Techniques! We’ve added the ability to use special regular expression rules to define who we redirect and where we redirect them to. We can set a rule up that redirects ONLY IF the visitor arrives from a website containing certain strings or permalink structures in their referring URL. We can also further limit the redirection by redirecting ONLY IF the visitor is landing on a page who’s permalink contains a certain strings or a certain permalink structure. Additionally we can “lift” parts of each URL, both the landing page and the referring URL, and append them onto our redirect URL. Here’s a video case study of this new regular expression rule based redirection system: In what way should we use this system? I developed this system for a friend who wanted to use it in this way: He wanted to send traffic from one of his junk blogs (Site A) to a webpage that auto-generated Amazon advertisements with related content (Site B), while once again immediately redirecting the traffic to Amazon with related keywords attached so as to generate an Amazon product search page (Site C). He also wanted Site C (Amazon) to think the traffic was coming from Site B rather than Site A. This system was built to accommodate this need which will allow him to funnel traffic from low quality sources and mitigate the risk of his account being terminated. That’s just one way to use this system. Another way is to setup rules to redirect all traffic arriving from an old domain to it’s propper location on a new domain. This use would be similiar to something we would normally use the popular (free) Redirection plugin . Note: The free Redirection Plugin uses Mod Rewrite’s regular expression rules to execute their redirects by adding rules to the .htaccess file, I believe. Another application would be to redirect all incoming traffic arriving on a certain blog category to the homepage. Those are just the few applications I can imagine off the top of my head. This system uses PHP’s regular expression engine and will allow for many different kinds of yet unimagined applications. I'll leave this post alone for awhile in case there's any feedback and the rest at a later date.
