    Hi,

Anyone here used windows Vista? If yes what do you say about it. Is it good as compared to XP? I know it has some reallly cool looking icons and interface but does it have some real good functions. Normally highly promoted products fails to gain attention after launch :) This could be the problem with Vista as well.
I purchased DVD but it has some files missing so I'll be replacing it in a couple of days to see myself what vista actually is :)

I will need to get a new pc before I install vista.

I think my pc may be a bit to slow for it.

I will more then likely stay with xp till its obsolete

LOl you must get a good PC. I installed Windows Long Horn on my 1 Giga and it usually took it 5 minutes to load it. Thanks God I got a good PC now. Honestly can't wait to get a working copy of Vista and check it myself. Actually I used a plugin of Windows Vista and it impressed me much. I liked the look and want to try it out no matter what functions it has. ;)

I had a play around with the beta when it was out and got to say it's pretty, but to be honest I dont feel the need to upgrade anytime soon.

I hear that many programs and hardware are still incompatible with it as well.

Errors, Errors, Errors and more errors - Oh and i see a few bugs rising up from the distance too.

Hey, Seriously - Just for an example my friend copy and pasted a file and it corrupted its file system!

Microsoft loss 25%. I guess they will make their profit since Vista has been launched so people will be buying it like crazy. And I can't comment on it as I am yet to replace mine :)

I know what your saying there. I ran 98 SE for years and hated the idea of having to upgrade to xp.
98 SE is still a kick but OS.

I never had 98.. It was either 95 or 2000, Then to XP..

Windows XP is ok once you have optimized it.

I used Windows 98 for 4 years and now for a couple of months I don't have it installed on my frist drive. I am using XP only these days but I usually go with 2 operating systems one 98 and 2nd one XP. I hate one thing, Driver installation in 98 :D

It can be a pain in the butt when it yells for the 98 disk.
Is that what your referring too?
    I use XCOPY during installation.
Puts everything on your drive :)

Nop I meant when you have to install driver for everything like sounds, video, and hardward you plug to your computer unlike xp that automatically detects drivers.

Yea but the drivers are generic. YOu are better off using the drivers made for the hardware.
