I think google prefer .org and .edu domains and give them some respect as organisation and education companies ,not an seo expert :D

Because these domains are mostly non commercial & is used for the betterment of the people .. so Google likes it.

one of the reason that they don't do SEO or marketing their sites. their sites promoted naturally.

You sound like one of my teachers, guess him and Google think alike.

I think google favors .org, for organizations, .edu for education, and .gov for government. Then I think next would be .com as the most recognized TLDS

    Cheers

bozonessinc - This is now right that you said.
I work in black seo, so people use hacked EDU site to get top for PHARMA keywords. EDU have trust, and how you see this trans in not only for education sites.

I wouldn't do Black SEO and hack people's site because the illegality of that is just horrible.

I would never go after backlinks for a purpose such as that. In fact I do not go after backlinks in such a black hat SEO way.

    Cheers!

I am not accusing you but I show that EDU is not only for educational sites.

Yes, but by law they are only able to be used as sites for schools (cite: .edu Home Page)

So, by any other use you could get sued.

And don't you think that is the worse method ever? Hacking the site of an educational institution, that just makes your site look bad.

This blackhat junk should be tossed.

I went on my blog, I had 30 PR leechers for there **** products. I am only PR2, I imagine .edu blogs get some good spamming. I don't think we should concentrate on this linking. Remember when you comment on something or take a site, it may be helping you, but you are taking away someone else's time, and money to fix the problems that you decide to cause to sell your product ect. Not ethical from my mindset.

Not saying that you do it but rereading:

    Ok..
    Do you ?

It's a matter of Google, theoretically, trusting them more. Sometimes this is true and sometimes not.

.edu links are becoming less and less valuable as student entrepreneurs figure out they can sell a link on their .edu hosted 'school blog' for beer money.

.gov probably has higher trust value but they don't link out that much although there are some places you might be able to still slip in a link.

Why Do they trust them more ? because they get their ranks from natural linking , they dont use SEO's and therefore they are trusted more, thats all there is to it.

Post Thanked. And you are true. I have gotten a review copy of a great link building before, and the thing the person did (and they charged people $5), was put a link on there school .edu blog!

It is because .edu sites and .gov sites are for educationl and governmanet instituation. SInce in a normal society a education institution and a government body has some kind of stature in the similar manner in the internet also it is the same
