shorten link used in social networking and microblogging sites. Micro blogging sites can be a good source of traffic and ofcourse back link also from some Microblogging sites which allow do fallow links .

i will prefer bitly because i like its analytic feature to optimize link visits according country location etc, it has also tool bar plugin to short url..

I prefer to use Tinyurl for this purpose as I used it all the time and it works for me always.

Both are good. They both have their own advantages of short links. But I'd like to also prefer bit.ly

Well, I personally think that using url shortener could harm your website reputation. Using the url shortener you lose your brand identity (ie. website url) which is known as the identity. If you use direct url, your business visibility increases as well as it helps in brand awareness.
