There are over a million social directories all around the world. Some are useful and some are not. I don't see a point on how it benefits a website except in the case of backlinks. So well, which social directory do you use to attain the benefits for your website ? Share it along and help each other.

I'm trying to figure out what you mean by social directory, you can even go to Google and type that in. Could you probably be talking about social bookmarking sites.

He maybe pertaining to the usual directory submission sites. I don't think there are about million of social bookmarking sites listed on the internet.

    Well for us to know:

‘Links’ play a major role in determining your ranking position on the various search engines. Obtaining inbound links or back links in quantity and quality can influence your search engine rank immensely. One simple way to obtain back links is to submit your link to directories. Online directories exist for the sole purpose of providing links to web users to various sites categorized under relevant topics. “Directory submission” is a website optimization strategy that no website owner should ignore.

propeller used to be fun and easy to use. Not anymore, folkd is full of spam, digg is useless if you want to build links.
Zimbio works pretty well for me.

The one I highly recommend is mr wongs social bookmarking site.

I can submit a link to stumble, and a link to mr wongs. the link in stumble might never show up in my google webmaster tools, but the one in mr wongs will.

If you get your website listed in high page rank web directories like "Open Web Directory" then you have good chance to get high ranked otherwise it does not worth spending time digging in millions free web directories.
