According to my experience.
you can build backlink from dofollow web dir.
try to find web dir. that has good Google and Alexa rank.
some are paid and some are free.

i think manual submission is much more better for link building of our sites n blogs. Automated submitter softwares are not that beneficial and wont give good results

Phpld is a good one to use for Directory. try it out and get ur needful in a easy manner

I am going to be starting a service where I manually submit people's websites to web directories. I know there are problems with auto submitters, and that they should not be used, but I don't remember what the problems are. I'm currently writing my ad copy, so if someone knowledgeable in this SEO-type field could answer my question, then great. I want to make it convincing not to use auto submission software, and to have me manually submit instead.

DMOZ is known for each quality service when it comes to directory submission. To be on top of their list is a plus factor or another quality BL to your site. It has a high reputation and very reliable but its not easy to get listed because of its strict guidelines.

I agree. Manual Submission allows you to pick and choose what is right for your site. It also allows to to control the number of incoming links google sees over time (They do not like to see alot all at once.

yes, your submission will just be wasted when you use auto submitters for those directories that do have captcha verification.
