1. I've started a massive SPAM purge, any accounts that have spammed are being removed, also for a short period new user signups are disallowed until the SPAM cleaning is finished.

What makes a good marketing website?

This question is simple and complex in nature. A good marketing site contains the necessary elements that the search engine spiders look for when they place information on top positions. The basic elements that need to be reckoned with are:

    a. Title

    b. Metatag Description

    c. Keywords

    d. Ad Content

When you arrange these simple elements correctly, then, and only then, are you ready to begin the quest for a top position. Any qualified seo firm should be totally aware of these elements, and if they are not, you should take your business elsewhere. I have dealt with some of the top webdesigners in the country, and undoubtedly, most of them do not even consider these critical elements. They are more concerned with the look and feel of the site, and not with the essential ingredients found within that site.

Problem with SEO is, anyone can claim to be one without any idea how search engines work. Look at your case - "marketing website" - what is that? You think SEO is only for marketing related sites? That is problem #1. Second - title, meta tags, keywords, content - are you seo expert from pre-Google era? It doesn't take an SEO expert to list out such basics, any school kid knows that. Please bring up something worth discussing, this is a webmaster forum after all. You really don't expect webmasters to be not aware of these basics, do you?

I think synchronous meant to ask what makes a good website in terms of its own marketing. Unfortunately he only spoke of basic (really basic) SEO. He didn't even mention sending out marketing messages sent through the content, calls-to-action, optimizing conversion rates, or anything else marketing related, for that matter.

Making your logo bigger won't get you sales. Clear, compelling sales messages, easy-to-find information, and making it easy for the visitor to take the next step will make your website successful.
