I have about 10 sites, had some of them for years but not done much with them.

I had someone contact me about one of them a few months ago, he was setting up a company with the same name. I suggested a price, we wrote a bit, then it went quiet for a couple of months.

The correspondence started up again, and he eventually purchased the domain for $20,000! I have to regard that as a one-off deal though. What you want and what you get depends on how much someone is prepared to pay for a name.

The most I have ever made on the sale of a site was $5000 USD.

I have a dozen sites, one that is 10 years old (and shows it) and some newer blogs.
I sold one just over a year ago for 10,000GBP ($18,000).
It hadn't been developed, but someone wanted the domain name for their company and were prepared to pay. I wasn't even intending to sell it, but at that price I couldn't refuse.
