What is Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

In simple Words Search Engine Optimization means developing ,designing or making a site in such a way that it comes first or at least on first page. SEO is done on the basis of some key word.For e.g if your site is about fans then your key word can be "fan" or may be "cool fan" or may be"cheap fan".So that when some one type this key word in search box your site comes at first page.With increasing market the SEO is becoming more and more important to the webmasters.

IMO, SEO means the process of increasing the amount of visitors to a web site by ranking high in the search queries of a search engine. The higher a Web site ranks in the results of a search, the greater the chance that that site will be visited by a user. It is common practice for Internet users to not click through pages and pages of search results normally what they saw first in the line is the one they click first, so a site ranks in a search is essential for directing more traffic toward the site.

Is internet marketing and SEO is different? If yes then, what’s the primary difference between them?

I believe SEO is making your site seen on some of the biggest search engine, SEO can increase your site visitors.. There are two type of SEO, onpage and offpage..

SEO techniques can be classified into two broad categories: techniques that search engines recommend as part of good design, and those techniques of which search engines do not approve. The search engines attempt to minimize the effect of the latter, among them spamdexing.

i think Internet Marketing is use to have traffic like classifieds, blogs and social networking, then SEM is for your keyword rankings on SERPs

IMO, SEO has a two major works the on-page and off-page optimization while the SEM are more focus in marketing the site by doing the link building technique so that it will be ranked.
