I have seen a few companies selling domains for a very cheap rate but they are quite unknown. I have also seen many domain sellers who sell domains for quite resonable rate and many selling at high rate..

So what do you prefer? cheap domains from unknown company? or resonable rate domain from a known company ? (a difference of about 3-4$ between their prices..)

It is preferrable in the following manner
1.Domain extension (.com or .net or .uk etc)
    2. Company registered and hosting
    3. Reputation of the domain in past.

So the companies may be providing expired or deleted domains for cheap not a fresh one.

I prefer to buy my domain names from those companies that have really good feedback!

I'm not looking to $3-4, because I can recover this money putting only adsense on the website. If you really want to try their service, you can buy 1-2 domains, but I don't recommend to buy all your domains from no-name companies!

By the way, I'm using name(dot)com

Why is this? Is it because these companies might be selling on domains with a bad history - eg domains that have been banned?? Sorry for the simple question - I'm a bit new to domain name buying.

Choosing the right company to entrust your domain name registrationsis important because of reliability, how long they 've been in business and some extra services them render.

I think a domain of about $10/year would not be a big problem for a business online. Reliability of service is most important, IMO. :)

    Thanks,

My answer is both. Reputable and cheap.
This is why I am using also name.com. They have the the lowest price for .com but most importantly they offer private whois for free. This is $10 extra at other registrars.

You can get great discounts with the best domain companies these days.

The cheapest I know of for a dot com is $7.17

I've seen other domain companies offer under 7 dollars but I'd not go there.

I prefer to buy domains from a known company so that I can guarantee the reliability.

If I have enough budget I will go on reputable company but if I have a low budget I will do some research about the company I've chosen. Just collect then select.

I've often wondered what would happen if I used a dud registrar and they did a runner!! (Don't mean to scare anyone, but it happens, I'm sure.)

Once you've had to enlist your registrars help because someone else thinks they deserve the right to your domain name and lodge an official complaint, or you need to transfer it to a new owner or something, then you really need one you can count on.
