AdWords (Google AdWords) is an advertising service by Google for businesses wanting to display ads on Google and its advertising network. The AdWords program enables businesses to set a budget for advertising and only pay when people click the ads. The ad service is largely focused on keywords.

Google AdWords is an online advertising service, developed by Google, where advertisers pay to display brief advertising copy to web users. Google AdWords' system is based partly on cookies and partly on keywords determined by advertisers

Such kind of posts are misleading, it feels like someone is asking this question but the fact is someone giving explanation here.

AdWords lets people advertise on Google.com, the Google Search Network, and the Google Display Network (content sites that are not search engines). Businesses use AdWords to drive targeted traffic to their website, in the hopes that some of this traffic converts to sales. Advertisers pay Google a certain amount per ad click.
