Initially, when you start optimizing a site or a single page, you start thinking of how people will find you. Here comes the idea of strong keyword ( better phrases ) - the words and phrases that people will use are of utmost importance and you need to find exactly them.
Often it happens that your initial target was not absolutely precise, and you need to recalibrate and refocus the user/search intent using your analysis and experience.
The stronger the keywords you've chosen the better for the success of your site !

A "keyword" is whatever you type in when you search on Google. Although you may type in more than one word when searching many people still call it a keyword as opposed to a "keyword phrase" or "several keywords" for simplicity's sake.

Individual keywords or longtail keywords are important to include in the meta tags and in backlinks for ranking. I like to emphasize more of a sniper approach as opposed to a "spray and pray method." After a base of keywords is established in the meta tags I like to use a longtail keywords back-linking strategy with links mirrored to the meta tags.

A strong keyword is a keywod that best describes your content and brings you traffic. How you determine this will depend on your site or page for that matter. I find it is best to be very specific when targetting a keyword. I work on keywords one at a time and one page at a time. For example if I have a site on widgets and a page on bule widgets with purple dots then this month I may target the longtail keyword blue widgets with purple dots, first optimising the page then seeking quality links using the exact phrase as anchor text. If the term brings 60,000 searches per month and I am in the top 3 then I have almost guaranteed I get atleast 1 quarter of those searches. So I spend 30 days targetting that page and that keyword set. Now after 30 days work i reach that top 3 position with 20,000 new visitors coming my way. Now I target a new page and start over again.. At the ned of 6 months I am getting rock solid visitors and things are good. This is how people become rich with internet marketting.

I am going to give an example to the above statement. In early Decemeber we added a new accessories section to our tire site. We did some research and found that the key word Truck Accessories brings a good volume of searches. In fact after checking today the month of December on Google 3,350,000 searches were perfomed ( using Googles keyword tool) Just prior to Christmas we started targetting this keyword, at the time our site was nowhere to be found in the top 1000, Now as of today we are setting at position 19 out of 22,300,000 possible matches. I have posted the link above if you want to watch as a test. Mods if you need to remove the link then please give some refferance so people can follow.

Are you talking about using the coding STRONG when entering keywords. If so, STRONG is used when creating websites so it is easier for the blind and the handicapped to surf the Internet. Our developers use it a lot.

In my own experiences, a strong keyword would mean a more competitive keyword with more search volumes on search engines. I would be OK for the long run of a site but I would like to recommend to pick up some long tail ones at the very beginning of a new site. It would not only helpful in getting instant traffics but also help in increasing conversion rates. :)

    Have a nice day,
