Its good add things that add the missing charm to the website but things should be encouraged as long as they add some value to the online visitor. If that doen't happen its better not to add the widgets.
What exactly the "thing" that you are talking about in here, widgets? i bet a webmaster should know what is exactly to put on in a particular website in able to get more benefit on net.

Precisely. You have to be very keen with what you are adding to your website. If it's no use then remove it. If it attracts visitor but don't attracts you, it's fine go for it!
