i have a facebook page for my website but I havn't a clue the best way to utalise it to enhance my site. Ideas please.
Best way is to constantly ( couple of times a week ) update it with news that linked to your site, not necessary promoting your site but maybe news that people would be interested in reading/using , eventually those "followers"/"likers" may become a regular . Facebook can be fantastic for a site much like twitter but it all depends on what your offering and what niche , some niches are terrible for facebook. Mostly work related topics are not too good but if there is anything funny or fun your laughing
Ive tried it a number of times in different niches , Triphp ive never tried it although i think along time ago i created a page and then forgot about it.
I think we need to have good number of fans to help promoting websites on FB. otherwise they're useless
maybe if you are in the field of show business or in arts, modeling, games, cartoon, sports and other sort of informative site you can get benefit from Facebook otherwise you will not notice in the world because people at Social networking site are mostly joining there for socialization only and not in serious matters at all.
I created a facebook page for my latest website which is in the webmaster niche and in all honesty i wasn't sure how to promote it, an i'm still not! Although I did create a facebook page for an old teen business forum I had and managed to get 200 members by doing very little work?!
Yeah webmaster niche inparticular is stupidly hard on facebook , If anyone is like me then i get quite annoyed with all these facebook like pages etc, Maybe its because i know they are going to be trying to sell or promote something i dont know but webmasters in general are a very hard niche .
I kind of get the feeling that facebook pages are over used and often associated with spam! Maybe thats just me but when I get an invite to a page etc I usually ignore it!
Yeah im the same , and for those bloody games on facebook too , i block everyone that sends me one of those lol .
What I did with Facebook is I created a fan page to get testimonies and group page so people can discuss their ideas.
If you want to grab more fans look around for groups/pages with similar topic, including competitive ones, and drop a promo once in a while there; even better do some "free stuff" linkbait all over the place and don't worry, be happy.

Hi, a newbie in SEO. I agree with tdaley. Although I'm a newbie, I used facebook for my social accounts like friends and relatives. And I noticed that a lot of people in facebook became a fan to something or someone that gets their interest and attention. So. if your site is all about social games, products etc. facebook is one of the best way to promote it.
Try to get more facebook user to page and post link and information about website on facebook page - its quite helpful to get more and more users . . .
