How long do you think it will be before all the free hosts out there upgrade to phpBB3? And do you think any will leave phpBB2 as an option? I think it will be before February of 2008 that they will convert, and I think very little will actually leave phpBB2 hosting available.
Well, Forumer is working to start hosting phpBB3 soon (and I mean very soon), so it shouldn't take too long. The Forumer Announcement
I hear that Forumer is indeed planning their upgrade, which is cool. Hopefully it doesn't end up a bare bones version with alot of features stripped. I think it will take alot of hosts a little while though, if they only support phpBB 2. Simply because of the work it takes. In fact, I would bet that most phpBB 2 hosts won't even upgrade, but rather, alot of phpBB 3 exclusive hosts with open in their stead. That situation seems far more likely to me.
I might check Forumer out, because I am looking into starting a phpBB3 forum. Hope they start hosting soon.
I'm glad that with Forumer we will be given the option whether to upgrade or not. Although phpBB3 looks great, me and my members would rather stick with phpBB2.
