Hey, I'm a little new to twitter (just started yesterday). Can anyone explain the basics of twitter, although, it already looks quite simple to me. I have one main question, is it possible to post on other people's profiles, and how does one get more followers?

BTW, my profile is: Humza (OurIslamic) on Twitter

Follow more profiles and ask them to follow you back!

You can post only on your profile, but all people, who follow you, will see your posts. Many twitter users make money from this. They have thousand of followers, and the put in each tweet an affiliate link, that redirect to a product or service, that they want to sell.

Personally, I don't believe in this, but you can try it.

Proweb is right, that's what you can do in twitter. I know i have already said this before, in twitter the more follower you have the more you will gain traffic because every tweet you make time the number of your follower will be the number of your traffic but all those traffic can be converted into direct or organic. How? If that someone click your tweet link that will redirect to your site. Make your tweet more interesting so that they will look at it.

I think we might keep away from bad neighbors. I heard twitter has deleted all followers of some accounts. I don't know if twitter does have a penalty mechanism just like Google. :)

How do you ask them to follow you back?

Would anyone like to exchange "follows" with me?

Ok, I'll share some experience - you want people to come visit your site, perhaps your forum. Start posting something interesting on your topics, use so called hash tags to emphasize important things ( place a '#' sign in front of some words ;) ), and follow back people of interest; also dont forget to mention them ( i.e. use the reply function, it uses their alias and they will notice it even if they initially didn't follow back ).
Put simple - engage more socially, put in focus communication, and the rest will follow.
Btw, that "recipee" is from social masters, not mine. And yes, it's ment to be social, the business effect is an outcome, not the main reason to go in twitter. People tend to avoid common sellerrazzi there more and more with time.

One of the rule in twitter is to follow people who will follow you and i think its a good way of respect to people who will follow you.

If you wait for few days I am going to write a detailed article on Twitter and its usage on my blog. You can easily understand how actually twitter works and how to use it effectively.

Great! keep adding your friends so that they will follow you too, so that every time you make a tweet you already have 175 traffic for your site as of now.

Twitter people follows if they find you that you always make a tweet, to them it means that you are active and will ride to your train so that they can also benefit from your other followers.
