Few days ago I tried installing the free version of PhpLD and I successfully installed it and now I am going to share how to install phpld :)

    1. Download the free version of PHP Link Directory from www.phplinkdirectory.com (You will need to create account there)

    2. Unzip the folder to your local computer.

    3. Upload the unzipped folder to your web server through FTP. You need to upload it to the same folder where you want to install the directory.

    4. Create a database for the directory.

    a) Go to MySQL Databases from your cPanel.
    b) Create a new database
    c) Create a user for that database
    d) Assign permissions (full) to that user.

    5. Now type the address in browser and point it to the /install folder.
    Example: www.yoursite.com/directory/install

It will start the installation process. You need to follow the steps.

    6. It will ask you the following details

    Hostname:
    Database name:
    Database ID:
    Database password:

In most of the cases the hostname is "Localhost" (without double quotes) so you can enter localhost, but if it doesn't work you need to contact your hosting company.

You just follow the steps and the installation will be done.

    7. After completing the installation process don't forget to remove the /install folder.

    ----------------------------------

I hope you will understand and follow the tutorial without any problem :)

If you need any help please reply here.

    Thanks

You also need to do the following

Change permissions on the following file and four folders to 777 (writing permissions):
    - include/config.php
    - temp/
    - temp/adodb
    - temp/cache
    - temp/templates
