Well after alot of hassle with vbSEO the forum is finally online , It wasnt VBSEO's fault as always their service was fantastic and they resolved the issue.

The forum will still be going through changes in the next couple of days while i add more things as i get sorted them out, but as a whole it seems to be working ok , please contact me if you see any bugs.

Hopefully this will set us on the right path to make Triphp even better and i hope you all stick around to enjoy the ride :)

p.s :- while clicking on "Reply to Thread" only quick reply box is coming again. You need to fix it.

What are you not keen on bud ? Everyone keeps saying they are not keen but never say exactly what ? Its pretty much the same as the old one. Same colours , same layout , same design . I cant pin point what people arnt liking so i can correct it . Nothings set in stone so i can change what people dont like

The colour is spot on instead of the old green theme, but in my opinion its not in the tradional VB layout as i am a creature of habit i know exactly were all the normal links for going to various parts of the forum are but when i logged into the forum today the links are not in the right location if that makes sense and as we all fully understand in cyberspace if it takes longer than a few seconds to work out there way aound the new layout i think people could then hover over the exit button.
This is just my take on it if you go to any VB forum they are all the basic same layout but with the forums own identity but the link buttons are always in the same location and i feel that this could be the reason, people dont like drastic changes.

The update to the latest V4 is more than likely a good move but as others have not come forward i thought i would try and give some feedback.

Yeah i know what you mean , im getting frustrated with the "new posts" section , as i normally browse down the list and reply to the ones that are in the forums that interest me but because the forums are writen in a slightly different place im getting annoyed lol.

Im actually in the process of getting the forum more like VB3 in terms of functionality , although ive heard today that DP will be moving to VB4 very soon too so i would imagine as soon as they do everyone will get used to VB4 as the norm lol

DP may be moving over to V4 but sometimes as they say if it aint broke dont fix it,we will wait and see about DP but one major change in recent years that did not work out and it has nothing to do with websites o rforums was the postoffice name change to Insignia it cost alot of money to do the change but people did not want it so it was then renamed the post office.
People by nature are creatures of habit,i think that if you can get the 'basic' same layout but with the new feature that the V4 new script offers then i feel it could work out well,it sounds like that you have your work cut out as i understand it you still have the Spurs forum i could be wrong on that but have you changed that over yet from V3.*** it could well be worth keeping an eye on that to see if you see any drops in the amount of visitors to the 2 forum as you then have the old and new scripts to compare the stats.

    Good luck ;)

yeah ive still got it but i wont be upgrading that until after vb3 is unsupported in a year or 18 months, as you said if it isnt broke dont fix it .I would never sell that site in a million years , it runs its self and has huge traffic so im happy ( although i would like it to earn me more than it does its not a big deal )

This place on the other hand i think needs to keep up with the Jones lol , Webmasters cope better with change and VB4 is alot better for spiders , the hard bit is making it friendly to people too lol, which hopefully i will work out over the weekend to modify things better.

"New" forum looks cool. But I don't plan to switch my forum to vB4 anytime soon, due to the very hefty price tag attached to it. I'll be sticking with vB3 for as long as it is possible.

I dont blame you , Ive only upgraded two of my forums, the others will remain VB3 until VB3 is unsupported .

Yeah, I intend to go down that path as well....right to the very end. There's no way I can afford spending so much on vB4 at the moment. It just doesn't seem justified.

I was always a very big phpBB fan (sorry hope that's not a dirty word round here) and triphp has been the first VB forum I've kicked around on. I feel like I've started hanging out in reverso world....

Nice dialogue/speech bubble icons, but wonder if that's the thing some people can't put their finger on... there's not many visual elements tying the design theme together... we see familiar old smilies when posting, but new razzy forum icons, and a kind of out-of-place hover/selected effect on the top menu (forum/whats new/advertise).

As for the rest of the new look - actually, I like it heaps better - feels like much more padding around the place which gives my brain space to breathe (big screen resolutions these days mean we're happier for a little more padding) and since I wasn't too much a creature of habit on VB3 the swap over has felt like it was natural progression.

    On ya.

Its funny you say that lol, im actually not happy with the way the navbar is set out with the login form etc , so im now redesigning the entire thing. Once i know it can be done i will post screen shots so you can all see . Im actually focusing on more of a modern looking VB3 navbar rather than all these buttons which really have no use

I have used phpBB3 before, and I do like it a lot. The only problem with it is that, like all the other open source forum scripts, it is really hard to get the forum content indexed in the search engines, especially Google. Plus, the unfriendly SEO urls are really a turnoff. Once I switched my forum to vBulletin and installed vBSEO on it, the number of indexed content jumped up. The results are quite too obvious to ignore.
