I am new to SEO. And I have developing a non-commercial site but I struck to know how to get more traffic for such site. Anybody suggest me – what are the potential ways to get more traffic to my site. Replies are welcome with more pleasure
There are many ways of getting more traffic , it all depends what budget you have and whether you want to spend money at all. If you do then Google Adwords is a good place to start, if your site has the potential to go viral then adwords could be the start you need to get the word out there. On the other hand social bookmarking, social marketing in places like Linked in, Squidoo , myspace, facebook, twitter and any other social networking site you can think of . Traffic is the hardest things to accomplish imo as a webmaster, once you crack it you've just got to turn them visitors into returning visitors
What do you mean by that? I think Agalya is seeking for help regarding seo strategies that will help gaining high traffic. Well, to start with, you need to know first the main core of SEO. To have this, you need to read this useful resource, Google's SEO Starter Guide: The Beginner's Guide to Search Engine Optimization | Suite101.com
If you have the basic you don't have nothing to worry about, all you have to do is explore it and make your own strategy. You have to be more resourceful in finding your own tactics its a matter of hardworking but if you have a budget as Riverwire says you can have paid advertisement. Automated submission is one thing which also not free but there are some that offer a free trial.
The first question you need to ask yourself and answer - who is your targeted audience? Who are the people that you want to visit your site? From there, "where" are those people at? Are they on facebook, youtube, myspace,,,,. Then develop an advertising program to reach those people. Whether its pod casting, videos, images, articles, or a combination of all of them.
Kev is right, you have to know your targeted audience to be able to a plan for your next move as a part of strategy so that you won't waste your time and will get much precise traffic.
