Well as we all know one of the best ways to make money is by 'flipping' websites. This is the process of buying a website cheap, getting traffic to the site, building revenue and then selling on the site for a much higher price!

But is it becoming harder to flip websites?

I recently attempted to sell a website on Flippa and I made NO profit!! The site sold for $200, but in the end $25 of that was taken by Flippa! If 25% of the value you sell for is being taken away then how are you supposed to generate any kind of profit?

There are sites such as here at DP where you can sell your website for free BUT they don't cater for the higher value websites!

I was just wondering what other peoples opinions were on the situation?

Ive flippa a number of sites but i normally do it over a 6 month period so there is a substantial difference from when i brought it , Most notably a couple of forums which i brought for around $300 each and sold one for $5000 and the other for $2700 , that was a couple of years ago now and ive kind of stopped doing the whole flipping thing since ive been earning well in the other areas instead , however i dont think its the flipping that is currently the issue , its buy and selling websites as a whole , its very rare you pick up a bargain anymore , no one wants the crappy sites that everyone keeps on their server for a rainy day , the market is just much harder over all imo

I also feel as the web has grown more popular, more people have started to run websites

Eventually websites will become the new property except online. For instance a few years ago it was buying season and now it is selling. Well thats for people in the UK.

    True,

Many of the .co.uk properties we have sold lately, were flipped and either sold again or making good money now.
This is the idea of selling high potential website to someone who can monetize it.

I think the profit depends on the mark up price that we set on the domain..If you think Flippa not worth it ,leave it...On business point view, the important factor is how easy for you to sell out the site, not how much they taken from you.

    This is triphp.com,Not DP..

Once a sale's end time has passed, the sale becomes an Ended sale, and no further offers may be placed.
In this phase, the seller may still need to accept or reject offers, and the winner of the sale hasn't been decided.
All pending offers must be accepted or rejected by the seller. If the seller doesn't accept any offers, no winner is declared, and the sale is marked as Closed.
If the seller doesn't accept or reject any offers within 72 hours, Flippa will reject them automatically. No winner is declared and the sale is marked as Closed.

You must set a price that will include commissions. Of course, this means less sales but.. that`s life..

I thought the Flippa fee was 5%, which can be charged to the buyer? 25% would be more than the profit for a lot of people I think

Yeah I think the fees are way too high now to make a profit. Perhaps they will lower them in the future?
