This question is to all the designers out there.

I am a designer and I find myself to be more creative and enjoying the working when I listen music. Yes, sometime I want the quiet too but mostly I like to listen music while working.

Do you like to listen music while working?

I never listen to the Music while working because it directs my concentration, music relaxes us so if it's not brainy work then we can listen to music while working but if the work we are doing needs focus and concentration then we should not :D

    My View :D

Sometimes I do listen to music to help me work. But if I am coding or writing script then I have found that it can be a bad distraction and I make mistakes. So if I am coding for a client then I do not listen to music and focus 100% on what I am doing and no music.

It really depends for me on what I'm working on, like Justin. Right now, I'm trying to write this with music and I had a little trouble. Maybe, it's just when I'm writing.

Sometimes it brings some nice things... when I listen to harder music, or drum 'n' bass, it can give some great effects.. but sometime when designing something, you're getting sick of music :D
Than I'll just turn it off ;)

But yeah music mostly helps for my inspiration...

I like listening to music while working but it depends on my mood actually. Generally I like listening to music while I am surfing the internet and doing other stuff. This keeps me relaxed. But sometimes I need to stay sharp and focus while doing sensible designs.

depends on the nature of work I am doing...

When its mechanical work I like listening music,

and When its creative then no music, may be sometimes instrumental only...

Rather than "should we" you could have used "do you"? It just depends on individual choice after all;)

Stick to classical music while working. Any other type of music is just WAY too distracting.

When designing, music really helps me i find, but not when writing tutorials! It's a bit destracting to listen to music and write useful and informative tutorials, yet when I am designing a new site or graphic, music helps the flow of my work alot - each to their own i guess!

Drum n Bass if you want to work faster is a good one (check out High Contrast)! If it's past midnight and I'm still coding then prefer the more chilled option, Lemon Jelly are a great chilled band to code to.

Cool recommendations guys. I for one, love fast, upbeat music to get my groove on while working. Keeps my blood pumping to a consistent momentum. ;) M.S.I. and Drum beats are two of my favorites.

My own experience thaught me to avoid any kind of noise when working on any task requiring a high level of concentration. For more repetitive tasks or basic design work I’ll listen to music or the radio from time to time. However I am pretty sure that you can reach a higher level of concentration with no noise around.

I always need some kind of background noise while working. I can't work without music, haha.
