I have a phpbb forum and it seems I am constantly having to add mods. Example - advertisement mod, post requirement mod and anti spam mod.

I was wondering if vbulletin requires mods for these types of things.

I remember when i used to use PhpBB and thought it was ok, but the trouble is the modding , it used to take forever putting mods on the forum , vbulletin is so much better, mods take seconds to install rather than hours lol

Just about everything you added to phpbb is built into vbulletin. And with vbulletin, most of the modifications just require you to import an xml file. Some modifications you have to upload files, but a lot of them are simple file imports through the admin control panel.

VBulletin already has anti spam features built in - such as recaptcha, image verification, and random question.

Ad locations are built into vbulletin themes. You just add the code, click save, and the ad appears where you want it to. In all, I think there are about a dozen built in ad locations. You can insert amazon ads, google adsense ads or custom banners in seconds.

    I run 3 vbulletin forums.

Vbulletin is expensive or people like me, but SMF works the best for me. :)
