The logical and physical arrangement of computer in a network is called topology .Topology means now a days physical topology .
    Classifications are :
    a. Bus topology
    b. Ring topology
    c. Star topology
    d. Tree topology
    e. Mesh topology
    f. Hybridge topology

Logical and physical topologies are not the same. For example, you can have a physical star topology, but if you are using a hub in your network, the logical toplogy is bus.

Network topology is the course of action of the different components (joins, hubs, and so forth.) of a machine system. Basically, it is the topological structure of a system and may be portrayed physically or consistently.

We have to choose a best topology to connect our network according to our needs. All topologies have some pros and cons.So we choose which suites to connect our network.

With various network topologies, each one has its disadvantages and disadvantages and you can choose which one best suits you.

As the name suggests, Hybrid is mixture of two different things. Hybrid integrate two or more different topologies to form a resultant topology. Star-Ring and Star-Bus networks are most common examples of hybrid network.

A network topology is the arrangement of a network, including its nodes and connecting lines. There are two ways of defining network geometry: the physical topology and the logical (or signal) topology.

The physical topology of a network is the actual geometric layout of workstations. There are several common physical topologies, as described below and as shown in the illustration.
    topology

In the bus network topology, every workstation is connected to a main cable called the bus. Therefore, in effect, each workstation is directly connected to every other workstation in the network.
