Month long contest or 2 week long?

After running several contest on my forum I noticed something. After about the first 7 - 10 days, posting starts to slow down.

So I was thinking today, what about running contest that last 2 weeks? That way people do not get bored, and will stay on the forum longer and post more.

Great idea kev, but one month is not so long for a competition.

From what I have noticed, the activity level drops after about 10 days. That leaves 3 weeks with little activity on the forum.

So I am probably going to go with 14 day long contest starting at the end of November.

I appreciate your thinking and one can show interest in the competition if is a short period competition.

Four weeks is a good length. If you have a prize worth winning that is!

two week contest would be the best so we should go with it.

Two week long will be all i think and most of the people like short term games.

I had the same experience. They showed less interest when I conducted a week long contest than I conducted a 2 or 3 days contest. Everyone likes short contests as they need to wait less.

I think Alfred is right. Peoples give more attention where he can get easily & in less time. Try to think from the visitors point of view, at the same situation you will also give more preference to short contest.

You can try 2 to 3 week long contests. That would be much better than a very long contest.
