For me the main concept of SEO is to rank organically to SE's search result(which include link building, on page optimization, branding and etc.) where your site has a lot of chances to be visited by users by certain keyword or phrase. For a high chances of product and services to be acquired or used, which lead to ROI or Return of Investment.
