    Hi People,

I'm new here and I’m kind of confused. I have an ecommerce website, say .Example.co.uk (targeting for UK visitors) and it has PR 6 at the moment.
I really wondered why I am not getting any good search ranking for my site. My site has a good number of quality back links and my competitor site has lesser back links, but still they are getting good search ranking and why not me, they also have a PR 6.
I've been thinking is it related to something difference with SEO for international website? Is there anything that I can do to target UK customers?
OR my product page has more no. of back links than my home page. Is this an issue.
    Will it make any difference?
I mean though I have PR 6 and good quality backlines I don't know really
Why my site is not having a rank in google.co.uk search? But my competitor’s site being PR 6 and lesser back links than my site, they rank on 1st page of Google search.

If you have any suggestions Please feel free.
I am almost clueless. Thanks in advance for the help

    Cheers
    Ben

PR and traffic, they both are different. Traffic depends upon your website popularity and ranking in SERPs with exact keywords. If you are targeting exact and relevant keywords then i can say it no one can stop your traffic.

You could have PR10 and it wouldnt make any difference to serps if you are not using you anchor text correct to target the keywords you want to active in serps. No doubt all the anchor text from these good backlinks you have is actually the name of your site or your company ?

You will also need to make sure your on page optimisation is up to scratch and evaluate where you rank for you keywords at all ( if anywhere )

Feel free to post your URL so that we can give you a bit more advise , its hard to give advise to something we cant see :)

Perhaps, your competitor site is an authority site and maybe they used PPC or paid inclusion that is why Google priority them. Since you are focusing in your local area try to use Google map for better visibility of site in searching with your local area.

Using PPC and all other paid search services don't effect ranking SERPs.

Agreed! But it can possibly acquire traffic from it.

I think what you (ben1) need is to conduct a keyword research and analysis to determine which keywords that are relevant to your site and will convert to a lot of traffic. It just need a little guide to a more right direction. :)

Actually, what I'm trying to say is that Google sets an authority site where he used to place it on the top of the searches sometimes these are branded site that are already well know. Check out Authority Sites for more info.

i think if you want to rank or to have traffic in a geo location... you should promote it geo also... you can do some uk based forums or classifieds or answer sites to have visitors form UK :D
