No one has proved that google PR effects serps so i find Pr to be glorified .
People love to see a high pr and the higher the PR the more your domain is worth.
i find it to be pointless

There is a quote by google somewhere that says that the PR is one of the hundreds of statisitics they use to help SERPs somewhere , ill have to dig it out and see if i can find it.

I must admit i do like to see a good PR on a website with some nice authority links pointing at it. It does add value to it imo , It's alot easier to sell advertisements i think ( im not talking about text links )

If you have blogs that have high Google PR, you make money easily out of it by selling links or joining paid review programs, and others

This is what I used to do when I had Blogs with Google PR

In addition, the more number of sites that are pointing to your site the higher your PR will be it reflects to how important your site is. But in some cases the more traffic and links you have with you then there will be no problems with regards to your PR.

PR is not much important as most of the visitors do not know much about pagerank or ranking system, but if u are targeting any webmaster related niche then PR would play a good role to attract visitors to some extent for sure

To increase pagerank u need to get backlinks from highly authorised websites or high pr sites linking to u

In addition, it is also part of popularity at net when you got 1st in the search engine, the more traffic you have the more potential customers or client you got.

The simple answer is YES.........oh......... and NO!

It depends how you define importance and what you want to achieve.
It depend who you want to impress and why.
It depends what you are looking to acheive.

if you are talking about SERPs point of view Then i think no body is 100% sure about this because lot of peoples saying that pr is just worthlessss thing , and lot of saying pr is important ... But what i got from my own experience i think pr is important not just for SERP Also For some other matters too . if you have good pr on your site or blog (like pr 4 or 5) And then you are planning to creat another website just place your new sites link on site that have pr4 or 5 and you'll see google will index your new site , just like that . With out doing any SEO . So its mean google cares about pr ...

Another point is . if you want to Sell your links or want to exchange link with some one else . then people love to contact with you .

But in SERPs Point Of view i'm bit confused too , Because one of my Blog is on Top of the google on very high competitor key word And That blog haven't any pr yet , just ZERO ...
But on other hand I have blog with pr5 , that blog is also on the top the google but just there where people don't like to search or haven't much Competitors
So its Really A Confusing and complex topic i think

The advantage of having a high PR is that your site could easily become popular. High PR is what all link builders need for backlinks purposes. But the sad thing about this is that PR could be fake nowadays so be careful especially those who are fond of link exchanges. Be sure to check first the PR in google tools or any legitimate tools.

    Hi,

No, PR is not required sometimes, because it a slogan of seo that "PR is vanity and ranking is sanity"

So, Improve ranking not pr, PR is the issue of google.

    Thanks and regards

well it depends on people. i think a bit of both search engine ranking and page rank is required. i heard google is in the process of changing its ranking system. so it's better to focus on both atleast for some time

PR does not affect search engine ranking directly. I have seen many sites which has PR 0 but good ranking on serps. PR shows only popularity of your site.

Yes to some extent. Like you need to show some proof or security when you get loans. But at other time it may not be so needed. Like that, you may need PR for link exchanges and um.., thats it.Nothing more.

Visible Toolbar PR is probably not too useful. However, we'll need to assume that Google still has an Internal PR system that is important. Google builds a huge relational date set on a URL before deciding how to rank it. Therefore a higher PR does not necessarily mean better rankings.
