It is good for PR as long as you are approved. It takes ages to get approved. Anyone know of a fast way to get approved.

    Thanks

John, being listed in DMOZ is a very cool thing. A lot of another high PR directory shows those sites as well.

The age old stuff still works at DMOZ, you need to know a friend of a friend of a friend to get your site listed fast, not doubt that there are tremedous benefits once your site is accepted, apart from being listed in DMOZ itself you also get listed at Google and hundreds of other sites free of charge

Does anyone know a friend of a friend of a friend?

I submitted my site over a month ago but don't think it has been approved.

Another thing, do DMOZ send automatic emails when a submission has been approved or do you haver to check yourself.

No, for me Dmoz is useless. I have 3 established sites earning solid income. Yet, Dmoz still has not accepted them. I have heard they only accept premium listings, which i am not prepared to pay for.

DMOZ does for PR what combing does for bald men....No, the page I'm listed on is only a PR3, and there are 10 or 11 outlinks, not to mention the 20 or so internal links....It helps a little, but more than anything, it's more like a trophey...You can say that you are good enough to win an award when you are listed in DMOZ.

Yea, by then its just useless. You've already got all the traffic and popularity you want.

One thing that I noticed, I don't know if it has anything to do with being listed in DMOZ though....I worked for several months and have stayed in position 5 for a highly competitive keyword...3 weeks ago, I was listed in DMOZ, and now I'm at number 3 for that same keyword. Like I said, I don't know if it has anything to do with being listed in DMOZ, but that is the most significant thing that has happened to my site in months.
