Here some points to increase website traffic:

1. First is to submit the website to prominent search engines. Waiting for search engines to find you is a pure waste of time. You can submit sitemap as it will encourage the search engines to examine your site more often. Visits by search engine spiders are key way to enhance website.

2. Another way to raise website traffic is Link Exchange. Search engines count inbound links when ranking your website. For this, you can look for free link exchange programs that are available over internet.

3. Use free blogs as lead generation tools for helping website traffic. While making a post on your blog, include a link to your site URL, by using anchor text.

4. Article marketing is another new but powerful way for boosting traffic. You can publish articles on ezine and other article directories.

5. Press Releases is another popular way to raise web traffic.

I always thought that you can submit your site to as many search engines as possible. Now I'm wrong. This is an enlightenment. And one more thing, does press release really effective to gain traffic? Are there any press release sites available?

I think Seo is the very good way to get good traffic.in the seo forum posting,article submission are the best way to get good traffic to your sites.

I must say that submitting websites to search engines is not required, because Google is indexing new sites or contents very quickly. So it might not be necessary & link exchange is not working at all.

But article submissions to web 2.0 sites, press release submissions, high PR back links, forum links & even social media links will help to boost ranking & traffics as well.

For more traffic you can do SMO work(Facebook,Twitter....etc.)

I heard this from many people but i don't know about this.

You can join to the different social-networking sites to get good traffic and referrals as well.

You can add video promotion,use of social media websites,web 2.0 websites,document sharing websites,forums and discussion boards etc.

SMO is better option for increasing traffic. Twitter LinkedIn, Facebook are the main traffic converter social medias.
