    Hi

First of all you must decide what kind of business you want to do. The most common type that people go for is affiliate marketing. That means advertising other people's products and earning a commission either on sales or on click-throughs (i.e. when someone clicks the link on your page). The second type that people do is called 'dropshipping'.

If you choose to do affiliate marketing you must then define your business model. I'm not saying you can't change it at a later stage (I actually encourage you to adapt and change as you skills grow), but it's good to have something defined that you can aim for at the start. You basically need to figure out where the money will come from (the usually ways are either Google AdSense or 'Cost-Per-Action' offers that either pay you for leads or sales) and how you will get traffic to your website.

The two major ways of getting visitors (that will then click your ads and earn you money) are through organic traffic and through pay per click traffic. Organic basically means that you got visitors through the search engines (such as Yahoo, Google and Bing) or through referring sites (such as Ezine or Digg). You do not pay for organic traffic, so most marketers see it as a bonus.

    1. Decide the goals and vision that matter to you most. Write it down and read it often.
    2. Know your goal for now, and know where you want to be for each year to come.
    3. Work on one idea at a time. Never splatter out with many ideas. It’s overwhelming.
    4. Establish a dotted line of steps to reach short-, medium- and long-term goals.
    5. Make sure your dotted lines look like one line and not a spider’s web of tangles.
    6. Decide how much personal investment you are willing to give—now and in the future.
    7. Determine your life/work balance and make conscious effort to maintain it.
    8. Revisit your vision and plan for business every three months. Adjust to fit.
    9. Have a safety net and a Plan B for every potential obstacle you meet.

    Hello Friends

    1) The first rule of success is to be fearless about your business. In the beginning, your whole vision may be nebulous, and it may seem like a wild fantasy, but "it's the people who try - and persevere - that find success and happiness.
    2) Know that becoming your own boss has both ups and downs. Louise loves the freedom and the mobility to move, along with the fact that she's accountable only to herself. The drawback? Money can be tight, and financing scarce. Therefore, plan well; have enough money saved up to cover the basics and feed yourself while you build the business.
    3) Online businesses thrive on offering one of a kind work to customers. People love to find special items that no one else will ever have.
    4) When looking for a venue to sell your goods, diversify in order to drive the most traffic to your online properties. Also, look into a hosted site in addition to a free-standing store.
    5) Try e-commerce on a smaller scale before diving head-first into obtaining financing and loans. In Louise's case, bank loans would have represented a loss of independence; she counsels patience and persistence for those without lots of funds.

Low Start-up Costs - When you decide to start a business online, you can do so with as little as a few hundred dollars and a good idea. However, don't be misled into believing that the Internet is an arena for instant riches with little or no effort. Nothing could be further from the truth. Like any business, it takes creativity, planning, money and hard work to be successful.
Multiple Skill Requirements - it's not enough to simply have a good product or service. To use the Internet effectively, you now need to have or be able to acquire skills in graphic design, web server technology, programming, and a brand new marketing medium, not to mention skills needed in multi-lingual translations, international accounting and legal issues
Endless Marketing Possibilities - The opportunities and ease of fostering strategic alliances to bolster marketing efforts is unsurpassed on the Internet. The reason we see so many cooperative relationships between companies online is that doing so has become so simple and so profitable.
Easily Traceable Results - Another byproduct of business on the internet is that tracking potential customers as a group and visitor preferences is an ordinary part of business on the Internet. See Promotion for more on this topic!
International Audience - Even if you do not think of your business as an international business, you must recognize that your visitors are likely to be from all over the world. You should consider whether or not you are prepared for international shipping and other transactions with countries other than your own. You should also strongly consider having your website translated onto languages other than English. The percentage of non-US businesses on the Internet has risen dramatically in just the past year!
Professional Look - If you are a Web Professional who is planning and designing web pages for others, we have a secret to share with you. It's called the "Proposal Kit". What it's done for our company is help us look more professional, charge higher fees and get paid for all of our work. It's the best investment we have made since we started our business!

Let's simplify the process of choosing an online business and say there are basically four ways to start an online business -- and really, there's no reason you can't do all three. However, you may want to choose one and focus on that first.
    1. Start an Online Business from Scratch: You can "start from scratch" and develop your own product or service to sell.

For example, if you are an artist or crafter you might make your own products and offer them for sale or you can offer a service such as career counselling or matchmaking.
You could even enter the lucrative market of creating information products. The internet business ideas are endless.
    2. Start an Online Business with Affiliate Programs:
If you don't have your own product or service to sell, you can market someone else's products through affiliate programs. With an affiliate program, you are paid a percentage of sales that are made when you refer someone to a company's website.
Usually the buyer must click on your affiliate link and make the purchase immediately. Some affiliate programs will track visitors from your link and pay a commission for within a period of time, such as within 3 months of the visit.
    3. Start an Online Business with Direct Sales:
Finally, if you feel you need more structure and support, you can join a Direct Sales Company and market their products. There are hundreds of direct sales companies available offering everything from cosmetics and skin care to kitchenware, home décor, craft products, and dietary supplements.
Usually independent representatives sign on under another representative or sponsor who will provide information and support to get you started.
    4. Start an Online Business by Reselling Products You Buy at Wholesale:
If you don't want to develop your own products, you can resell other people's products. You can buy them at wholesale and ship them out from your home. Or you may prefer the ease of having somebody dropship the products for you.
This means the company from which you buy wholesale does all the shipping for you. You just take the orders.

    Hello,

As easy as it may sound, starting an online business is not something to be taken lightly and does involve hard work. Just like any other business, there are a few important things to consider when starting your online business. Here are six areas that should be top on the to-do list of anyone starting an Internet based business.
    Determining a Target Market
Without knowing who you will market to, how can any business owner be truly successful? Sure, big companies can get away with marketing to a large arena of individuals from all walks of life, but as a small business owner online, you are competing with thousands of other business owner all over the world. For that reason, you will need to narrow down your choices and focus on one specific market in order to make running your business easier on you and more appealing to your customers. Here are some more target market tips.
    Choose an Online Business Model
What will you be offering in your business? Will you be selling your own physical or information products, offering your services or promoting someone else’s products or services? If you choose to sell or promote other products, will it be through a direct sales company, affiliate programs or a combination of more than one? Here are some considerations to make for your online business model.
Determining a business model will help in many ways, one of the most important being that you can find other successful online businesses to learn and mentor from. This will help to cut your learning curve by teaching you tips and tricks that are unique to these specific types of businesses.
Deciding On & Purchasing a Domain Name
If you’re doing business online, you’ll need a domain name for your website. Once you have decided who your target market is and the type of business you’ll be starting, finding the perfect domain name will be much easier.
Here are a few basic tips for choosing a domain name:
    · Make a list of possibilities before searching for availability
    · Make it easy to remember
    · In most cases, steer clear of extensions other than .com (this is what most people think of first when typing in domain names)
Copywriting – Learn & Apply It
Online businesses rarely have the ability to see their customers face to face. Therefore, the words on the screen need to do the convincing when it comes to potential customers. In order to be successful with an online business, copywriting is essential. However, you don’t have to be a grammar queen or a Pulitzer prize-winning author in order to write for the Internet. It’s a good idea to either hire a copywriter or, at the least, learn the basics of copywriting and apply it to your business.

    Thank you
