Yeah, most hosts charge a fee for private registration so that doesn't surprise me too much.

You will have to purchase whois guard or some privacy protection. It usually costs between $3-$8/year depending on the registrar.

For such kind of service, the WhoIS protection service is the best solution. Most of the people opt the whois protection service and trust them.

Most of the hosting provides us an option to hide out contact details.

This is right, but with whois protection it helps you shield domain registrant information from public viewing to avoid unethical spammer.

Buying without revealing your name is not possible, and it is illegal if you manage to do. Provacy protection is the option you have and it is not exactly same as buying without revealing your name.

Privacy protection is not free, even if some registrar will offer it free for first (few) year(s).

During a domain registration, You can select for private registration. A private domain registration keeps your personal information - such as your name, home address, phone number and email address - out of the public eye. you can get free private domain registration from www.WhoisXY.com at very low and affordable cost.

    hi,
Every domain registration will be done through after checking the personal information, it can't be done without reveling the personal information. It is same as opening up of bank account with the personal details.
