How to make and and add a Favicon to a site ????

    I am not sure on how to make or design a favicon for our new site Rapidshare Link i like the idea of adding one as it finishes the site of very nicely i guess like the cherry on the top of the cake but how does one go about making one ??? can one go to website and make one or how do i get one please.

    Do these favicons make any differance to SEO or is it just a cosmetic thing to the site.

    If anyone could help or suggest anything on this one please as i have no idea on how to make one.Thanks

    They have no relavance to SEO what seo ever, after all they are just an image.

    The easiest way to create them is get the image you want to use , scale it down to 16x16 then when you go to save the image instead of saving it as .png or .jpeg save it as .ico

    then upload it to your server and create the tag to tell your site where it is

    Normally you will link it as favicon.ico.
