Only one for this forum, but I believe that's all you need. I guess it could help with search engines, but you only need a .com, .net, or .org, there is really no difference. I prefer .com, it is indexed better by Google.

If you can afford it, why not? It does get indexed better, but when you are just forum posting, it doesn't really make a difference. I like to stick with just one.

If you want to keep your forum name unique then register them all.

I had 2 extensions of a site once, but one of the domains expired and i lost more than half the traffic.

    I really only need one.

Yea, that would be a problem, if one domain expires, and you can't renew it, all traffic on that domain will be lost.

I don't particularly care, I have a .com for my site and that's all I really care about.
