O.K. Robert, I am going to make a wild guess here just based on what you've said. If this only happens when you first start your computer, you could be looking at a heat sensitive component. When electronics start to go bad, many times they will fail when cold but perform correctly when brought up to operating temperature.

So when you first start your computer, it's cold and fails, but functions correctly after it has warmed up. This could also be a connection problem. Check all your cable and wire connections first.

Like I said, it's just a guess, but if you machine functions fine with no problems after it has warmed up, it's a good possibility.

Didn't you say you installed Vista on your machine? Do you have enough resources to run it?

I am not sure about the version but there is a min 1GB of RAM required for one version and 2GB for another...

When that happens to me, I know that my brother in law has been on my computer downloading ****.....Does anyone else have access to your computer? In the rare occasion that it does happen, I have to save all of my files to CD and rebuild the computer....I have an e-machine, so it only takes about 10 minutes....But even if you don't have an e-machine, you can restore your computer in an hour.....Virus software seldom works, and fix-it programs don't do much.....
