Well well well , after my recent post about blog commenting facing penalty from google it seems that google have officiallly announced that it is in fact true.

You can read more about it here :

Official Google Webmaster Central Blog: Hard facts about comment spam

Now who should be worried and who should not ?

I know this is mainly aimed at those spammers that post links directly into the comment field but how long do you think it will be before the "website" field is going to be affected by this ?

IMO this will kill commenting on blogs , just like it did for some forums when google said that signature links are pretty worthless.

It just back to link spam. Do not allow spammers to post links to spam sites anywhere on your site. Whether its a blog or a forum, take a firm stance against spam.

To be perfectly honest, spammers do not care about what the people at google say.

Nope they dont care because most of them are bots anyway lol , I suppose its a good way to stop spammers really , if they are penalising the sites that have the comments on them , then spammers will eventually not have anyway decent to spam. Just them poor soles that never update their sites lol

I think blogging is safer and more efficient than blog commenting. Even better, it is under your own control. :)

    Have a nice day,

Actually we can control those spammer by moderating our blog site or site. If we think those comments are created by the bots or automated we can disapprove their posting and we can even filter it out so that they will not spam our site.

Their points can block spam but they may make real users harder to comment. For a single comment, they have to register, approve the mail, log in again and comment. Who can do all this stuff, it will be easier to post with name/email id/ url

I think its better to do all those stuff than to have a huge spam comments in your site, in that way we can be safe not to be called as spammer.

Well, i try to be considerate in terms of approving comment. I do have a news blog and in some cases, i saw type of comments that give negative response on my post based on what their perception about the issue. I do reply and quote the said comment to come up with an interaction between the publisher and the commenter, we exchange ideas and i gain something valuable from their thoughts. And I do give credit on those kind of post and if i find it very informative i'll make the link their link a do-follow.

I always stop commenting on my blogs, and always set it as default setting, because I get automated spam comments, and I can't manage them.

I think it's better to close the comments to protect myself for spammers.

I can't believe that I get spam from my contact form. I think there are some bots that are searching for contact forms and just complete the forms automatically and send meg some really strange links...

I always try to comment when I have some more info about the topic, otherwise I prefer to remain silent and leave the site.

I think I am not in any trouble :)

That was a good attitude buddy, at least you did not spam the site. I wish all people who make a comment will do what you do so that internet environment will be clean and healthy.

I can say that the author himself of the blogs should be responsible of creating moderation on blog comments because as search engines can easily crawl on them, spammers might have the opportunity to just leave their links there without suggesting any relevant content.

There is no wrong with blog commenting because it will all lie upon the value of the content shared or commented - many experts do comment on others' blogs anyway just to give them great tips and advices. And surely, it will make the followers do the same, so it's just being fair at times.

I hope that helps too, I got also more tips from here MassOutsource (dot) com/Report :)

    2. Signature links are not dead. I rank 2nd for the keyword I have in my sig. Triphp is my only backlinks source for that page. :)
