Age can be a factor when it comes to SEO however running a forum is totally different from running other sites. Forums require to be kept active all the time and constantly worked on.

If you have a good forum with good content then people will link naturally to it, for get PR when working with your forum.

SEO could make your forum and its some thing you will have to work on over the months.

    I agree Completely with Riverwire.

I have had forums that were over 5 years old with poor moderation and activity rank worse in the serps as a 6 month old forum in the same niche.

yes. in addition, you also need to moderate it to keep away spam posts and make it a user-friendly forum.

Aside from age, its always important for a site to have a high reputation by gaining good quality backlinks from a reputable sources. If you're site is well built with the used of good seo tactics, the possibility and chances of its rankings including its keywords and PR will remain stable.

Age is a plus factor but if its not doing well and don't have active threads from time to time, SE will not crawl you. Remember the more post and updates for your forum is one big factor to have a good PR in the future. And maintain it clean but informative so that people will like staying in your forum site.

In my own experiences, age of backlinking domains would affect your PR but the age of your own domain might be not. You could find some very new domain with really high PR (above 6) online. :)

    Have a nice day,
