Ive never tried email marketing and think its a very shady area, You really need to go through a professional email marketing company to make sure you get "Non spammy" and Solicited emails sent out.

Whats you views and have you ever tried any form of it ?

I have not used email marketing so far as it was not necessary for me. After some research I have come across many email spiders that can extract email id's from various search engines, websites, as well as forums.

We can then use this email addresses for mass email marketing based on our own niche.

I never use it just to avoid someone calls me "Spammer", i go for advertisements, forum's posts, directories and so on when promoting any site, service or product (personally i hate each time i see into my inbox mails promoting any stuff so i don't do it).-

Well that can be true. Now when most of us are concerned about spamming Email marketing has lost it's charm. We can have a lot of remedies for it.

We can attach quality ebooks or article pack with our promtional email. This way, the email owner shall not take it as a spam as he shall also get some gifts from this email when he shall open it.

Well as far as I am concerned, I use Outlook Express to receive emails from my webmail account and when I get promotional emails then I just get frustated as it eats up my bandwide with no reason. I hate spamming but as jr_sci said, if I get some free gifts along with those promotional emails, then I would not be that angry. ! LOL

Me too i haven't tried the email marketing tactics like what Masterweb says I'm also avoiding to be called "spammer" and the worst thing is that some people did not open their mails specially if they don't know where it from and most probably they put it in junk or trash it. In that case i think the effort you made in submitting those mails is really a waste of time.

That's a good statement you have made. The other problem associated with e-mail marketing is that people don't even bother to open a mail if he does not think it is from a relevant source. And again, if he seldom opens it, there is pretty less chance that he shall actually believe or trust that email.

I have a forum with over 20,743 members. Sometimes I will send out a mass email about special promotions and deals that I come across. Or if something is added to the forum, I will send out a mass email.

But, those are people that have signed up on my forum and have opted in to receive emails.

Inside each email are instructions on how to opt out and how to be removed from the mailing list.

I see that kind of email marketing as being different then hiring a company to send out thousands of emails to a non-targeted audience.

I find email marketing helps when you take the time to personalize the message. I only contact people who have inquired about services I can provide and/or have a site where they specifically state marketing/advertising proposals.

I do email marketing to get leads and its working fabulous. :xyes:
Success in email marketing is depends on various things. Like good informative content, catchy subject line and most important is email list.
I'd prefer to build own email list. There are many many online company directories which could help you to build email list.

I haven't tried email marketing yet and I'm not planning to try it either. I'm afraid some people will think I'm just a spammer. Also, based on my own experience, I don't open emails from unknown sources and I know other people do this, too! So, there's no way I can market or advertise through emails because I myself don't open emails from senders I don't know.

it's pretty effective, but avoid spamming.. send emails only if you know it will be helpful or interesting.

Email marketing does work if they actually bought something from you but if your just sending it randomly w/no reason its use less

yes i agree to that, there is not much value if sending mass mail or hiring company to send those many emails but its a good idea sending mails to the subscribers of our blog or forum. That looks genuine and helpful. Better for our website marketing as well

    Hi,

Newie here, just sharing my experienced, I have tried email marketing what I have learnt is that the best way to promote it is let your friends know your emailing them, and asked them to forward it to there other friends, that way it will circulate not listed spam or in the junk mail, it's away of advertising your site at the same time.
It has worked for me so far and responds I have recieved is fantastic.

Well I recommend using either Aweber or iContact for email marketing.

If you need to promote your site, this is great:
