    It does not affect much but a short name is easy to remember and it is good from a visitor point of view.

    I think what you meant is the domain name, the length won't do any help therefore your domain name must be memorable.

    Domain should be as little as possible because it useful for user to remember and its also good for search engines.Now Google is has done an EMD(Exact Match Domain) update. In which they are going to wash out domains which have domains names similar to keyphrase and use duplicate content.

    Choosing the right keywords to optimize for is thus the first and most crucial step to a successful SEO campaign. I think 4-5 phrases would be enough.

    No i don't think so that website domain name will affect on your search engine ranking in any way. Search engine ranking is all depends upon your targeted keywords not on your domain.
