Do you still defrag?

Does anyone still run the defragment programme?
I used to but cant say I can remember now the last time I did.
I suppose with the vast memory amd power that the pc has compared to a while back the need is not there as much as it used to be.

Its been a long time since mine have been done,they are left on 24/7 and are never switched off including monitors :~

I don't, however I would say that it can do alot of good for your drive and how data is accessed. It's probably worth it if you can be bothered

i do it when my HD starts to sound like a dirtbike

I do defrag - but not in a regular schedule.

I used to be a regular defragger on Windows, but haven't felt the need since I changed to Mac. It was usually a desperate attempt to make Windows run faster!

I see no difference when I do it. I guess when your computer gets full that's when you do it

Me too, I can't remember the last time I did it but I don't think I need to defrag as often as I used to now that I'm using CCleaner

you are right midlandi, defragment is not much needed now a days. But also i defragment my notebook once in a month. It really fastens up my notebook

Of course I do, why wouldn't I?

Once your files get too fragmented, you can open one picture, and it will be a different file. Too many fragmented files is very, very bad.

Yup! But I mostly do this once a year.

Right, the memory is cheap today but hard disk is still getting fragment. So, a routine defragment is still in need. :xyes:

Yes, to maximized the usage of hard disk and its easy to boot while your file in hard disk are compress and well organized.

Yup I still use defrag once a week it really helps very old school.

I do defrag but I don't know when as it's all done on auto :xcry:
