Whatever you think about Windows, but I don't believe there are any vulnerabilities with Windows server. The cost factor is the only difference I've ever noticed between Linux and Windows. In terms of attacks, then I can only suggest, opt secure web applications on your server, because most probably attackers find the backdoor through unsecured applications.

Linux Hosting is more good for email solutions. The main cause of Virus attacks are use of open source applications because these applications are very risky .

However those who wants to go for more advanced email hosting services, then I'd recommend to choose Microsoft Exchange or Zimbra Email Hosting services.

    Re:

Linux supports a wide range of software, applications, languages, and databases such as PHP, Perl, PostGre, MySQL, PostgreSQL and many others making it very scalable. On the downside, Linux is not fully compatible with some Microsoft technologies so if you are using Access, ASP, MS SQL, or VB development tools then Windows would be a better bet.

Somewhat you are right, but you can also host PHP and MySQL on Windows Servers. And if you do not consider cost as an important factor and want to use a wide range of applications like .net, java, php, ms sql, mysql, and other third party application, then believe me Windows is for you. It supports more applications and it is very user friendly with interactive GUI. I know Linux has wide range of application supports, but in my opinion Windows has the widest application supports.

Both OS comes with various flavors. As the cost is main difference, but we need consider other factors as well. For an example. Your abilities to handle bugs in application software, Security against viruses, worms, spyware, and malicious attacks (Here, Linux has strategical advantage, because most of the attacker target Windows), easy software upgrades to newer versions (compare both OS and its applications).
