Why dont Directory owners check the quaity of their catch graphics?

I have spent some time today doing some directory submissions and the amount that have a very poor quality captcha that is impossible to read is worrying.
Why they bother having a directory in the first place defeats me as no submisions could ever be made without a damn good guess at the captcha.

I agree, I give up on some as they are all but impossible to read.
I wonder if anyone bothers to email the owners and tell them.
I guess the owners are sat there wondering why the directory is getting no submisions!!

i dont see the point in adding it to your site unless its recaptcha

99% of the catpcha scripts out their are broke.

Waste of time really. Just makes it a pain in the arse for us humans

The captcha some directory owners user are quite stupid. Some tend to set this to heavily distorted not realising that they are losing submissions in the process.

You're right, for non functioning scripts, or captcah that are just unreadble the submitter will just move on. There are the others I have seen where the characters could be sinply mustaken, G and C, and U and V come to mind. If I don't get one first time i move on.
