There seem to be plenty of Forum Datatbases up for sale, has anyone ever bought one to boost a new or flagging forum?
I did consider it once but felt it was really a backward step and not a good move.

Depends, if I have a warez site, I would buy a warez db and merge it with my site so that I could have stuff others have. Then, built a fanbase.

ive considered this 3 times in the last month, each time doing my research and finding the data base are already around the net 3 times over or more, if you going to do this make sure it hasnt been sold else where ! or hasnt been ripped from an un knowing admin

I would be more interested in buying an established and lively forum to merge with here.that I feel would be a very good move.

    True!

And of course the prices people want are huge. Some are asking, and getting, like $500+ for forums that are clearly inactive.

Any alteration in 8 bit mode will cause some damage to the histogram. The alternatives are to ignore the histogram if the image looks good or to work in 16 bit mode. If you pull in the end sliders of levels it may clip the colour range, but curves that do not alter the endpoints only compress certain ranges while expanding others.

    - Huge databases are normally bought in order to mass mail the users and bring them to the sites. It is actually against the law, But we cannot help it.

All it would do is create duplicate content in the search engines. Chances are your site is not going to get the duplicate threads indexed.

Worse case, your site could get a penalty for excessive duplicate content.
