My suspicion about norton was they embed virus in the newly instaled OS (win 98) because it is the reason why they microsoft teamed up with them. ;) I use only spybot...don't download exe or mp3s because sometimes there's a virus embeded in it...spybot detected most.

I didn't get any right Anti virus.
I tried Avast, Nortan AV, Kasper but all fails to stop virus. Nortan was some good but too heavy.

So now i m going to try Nod. If got any success the I will post here.

Basically a special virus name "brontok" anyone got this one??

I have been using Grisoft's free AVG. Unlike other anti virus application, this is not resource intensive. It's a light application but good enough as your first line of defense in so far as viruses are concerned.

For me, if you want some antivirus with small space. Use nod32 antivirus or kaspersky antivirus. If you have good RAM, i'm suggest you use norton or avast antivirus. Its up to you. BUt right now, i'm fine with nod32 antivirus. I already use this one since last year and its working well.

I have tried bitdefender and AVG previously. But they did not work well upto the expectations. But i started using NOD32 and it works very well. I feel lot more comfortable with nod32.

According to me friend..you can use AVG,spybot,Avast,kespersky...I am recently using kespersky .it is very protective antivirus as i use internet the most so it potect my computer from internet viruses too and having fast scanning and not loaded..but i had used norton it was very loaded and make your pc slow down and many time it hangs again and again..so i suggest you to use other which i mention....you can also get them from online ..search in google and you can get the trials of these and try ..you will definitely get the best one protection..

i have tried many antiviruses but it is really very tough job to protect your PC. now, i use McAfee internet security suite and it is very secure. it consists of firewall, antivirus, email protection, hacker watch, shredder, spam killer, privacy service. its security center detects any changes made to system files or registry.

    Avg

As some one said here, there isn't any "best" anti-virus, simply because the viruses are invented first, then comes the antidote by any anti-virus!:):

The "best" anti-virus would be not to use the internet, no outside CDs or suspicious softwares, etc

To other people, they need to protect their systems with either good antivirus softwares like AVG (I use it), along with firewalls and anti ad-ware softwares, etc, and ... pray!!

Or use Norton or other expensive anti-virus softwares, and other firewalls, etc. and ... pray!!!
