I have tried almost every internet security. Now, I use nod32. It demand very little resource, and very smart, and it is a hungarian development. ;) You can download 30 days trial version from http://www.eset.com/.

I am not quite sure if there is such thing as best virus software. They all have their strengths and weaknesses.

At present use Norton's too, but it came bundled with my laptop and just can be bothered to remove it and install my favourites software.

I refuse to use nortons or mcafee for the simple fact the software eats up to many system resources.

I Use the yahoo email to scan suspicious files.
    I think they use nortons?

Anyhow i just zip the file and email it to myself and then scan it :)

I've personally used many antivirus programs but the ones I like are Mcafee (I am still using), Kaspersky, NOD32. I don't have a good opinion about norton (never used actually), I know it takes lots of PC resources and it isn't efficient as well. Mcafee is the best for me so far though I am looking to purchase Kaspersky security suite from a local dealer.

Totally agree with you there uksharon - I guess companies like norton and mcaffee need to bloat their software to justify the prices they charge.

I hate Norton, Norton is supposed to protect your computer, and i have no doubt it does but you may as well have 3000 virus's on your computer on the speed it runs at after the initial install...

Right but Norton is extra heavy and uses a lot of pc resources unlike others. Other anti Virus software don't take that much resources and work fine than norton. :)

I didn't use any anti-virus until about a week ago. I downloaded a file from a buddy of mine, and low and behold I got all kinds of crap on my computer. So I installed Spybot and AVG, and I still get ads popping up.....

Did this software work out for you?
It wont remove the syware or adware without purchase, but it tells you where its located :)

Don't you use google toolbar? it comes with an automatic popup blocker. I'll suggest to get a copy of spyware sweeper "A product of webroot.com". I've been using them for almost a year now and am quite happy with the product. you can get a trial version to check what's wrong/what's infected with your PC.
