Ask is a well known search engine so do you think it can be classed as a major search engine like Google, Yahoo and MSN are?
Do you have the Ask toolbar in your browser. Try disabling it. Same thing happened to me, it just kept redirecting to the search engine, but after disabling the toolbar, it worked fine.
I think ASK gets most of its results from Google. There was a big lawsuit awhile back where smaller search engines were pulling results from google, msn and yahoo. That way they did not have to lease or buy expensive servers. The major search engines sued the smaller ones in US Federal Court. The smaller search engines won. The judge said that sites like google put their search results out on the internet for "anyone" to use. So if you look closely at some of the results on ASK, you just might see "search results by google" or "search results by msn or yahoo".
Ask may be popular as Google and Yahoo but it will take too much time. As it has very few searching parameters.
I know it's offtopic, but Ask.com reminds of the days when AltaVista was wow, and google was some new player just appearing on the scene...back in those days.
Though is a very good search engine, but the reason why it doesn't come in the main seacrh engines catogry is becasue it isn't much popular and the other reason is that it deosn't provide any other service exceprt serach engine, what others search engines do.
Well i don't find this matter to haggle with. But as the Ask search engine claims to be the the #1 brand focused on answering questions and answer the questions of over 227 million people worldwide across the Ask Networks. But even then it hasn't enter in the competition with Google and yahoo or MSN yet!! Regards www.triconsol.com
Google and yahoo is the most popular search engines and they both easy to use so user prefer first Google and yahoo.
Ask is quite good Search Engine and its very differ than Other Major Search Engines like Google , Yahoo , Bing. . . I personally use Ask for research, . ,
