Are social bookmarking sites worth the hassle?

Are they REALLY worth it? Looks like to me to get anything out of them you have to be a bit active? What benefits apart from maybe minimal traffic does social bookmarking sites have?

I do social bookmarkings for creating back-links, of course, I choose the sites with high-PR. :):

    It helps me somehow.

Well, recently I did join Twitter. I am hoping to get some quick traffic from Twitter as well. I got most of the visitors from various directories at past. Now I am running out of quality visitors. I am really fighting up to get return visitors.

i couldn't agree with you more! these sites really deliver results. although the main thing social bookmarking does is give you exposure. the quality backlinks would still have to come from article or content writing8)

Social bookmarking sites help with deep links. But for traffic, they are a waste of time. Traffic from the big social bookmarking sites such as stumble have a 90% - 95% bounce rate on my forum. That is not worth my time.

Yeah id agree with that , although i never think that they actually covert to well on forums anyway. Ive tried quite alot over the years with forums and things like stumble upon, although you sometimes get a couple of members from it they never seem to stay long.

If I am going to spend my time on something, its going to be on something that gets my site targeted traffic.

Time is money, and the more time you spend on getting traffic with a 90% bounce rate, the less time you have to work on other projects. The more time you waste, the less money you make.
