    Some times I use alexa to compare my website traffic with other websites.

    Do you think that their tool show real data, or not?

    I think so, because they seem so competent when it comes to traffic and they built an unparalleled database of information about sites that includes statistics, related links that focuses on site traffic.

    But how can they measure my site traffic, if I have no script installed on my website?

    As far as i know they measures a site's value based on how many other sites link to it and the quality of those sites. Alexa measures a site's value by the popularity based. Number of visitors to your site and how many pages they visit. They have an algorithm that combines those two numbers and comes up with a page rank.

    The only way Alexa knows how many people visit your site is by getting people to install their toolbar. Alexa toolbar can be considered as a spyware since it keeps track of the websites you visit.

    Alexa has not real value , Triphp is getting 900 uniques per day at the moment and is alexa 36k but i have sports sites getting 15,000 uniques per day and they are only around 250K alexa , people with the alexa toolbar fitted are mostly webmasters , so thats why webmaster related sites are much higher in Alexa Rank.

    It can be useful as a rough guide but doesnt have any real value

    I think Alexa is not proper tool for check the traffic but you can use for knowing the ranking of other site. Alexa gives you the proper ranking of any site according to this you judge about the traffic & quality of sites. Have you download the Alexa tool on your Mozilla Firefox?

    Alexa is a meter where can we know that ranking of our site and without c panel of our site. this ranking is based on traffic on our site.

    Alexa is not showing the traffic. It is grading the websites basis on different factors.

    Its real data alright.

    Just it may not be as accurate as getting a google analytics report!

    Alexa shows you ranking of particular site on the basis of ranking you can judge the traffic of the site. Like Alexa ranking is under 1000 it means traffic on site is good.

    Definetly there tools are really acccurate....they are professionals.........and they got great reputation.....they are one the companies that work with government authorites to provide real time cyber data....
