Java Script is better than other scripting languages for web design

Well, JavaScript is better at what it does than other scripting languages that have tried to do the same thing (e.g., VBScript) which is why it's the only client-side scripting language that's built into every modern browser.
However, that doesn't necessarily mean it's "better for web design" than every other scripting language. For server-side processing there are (in my opinion) better alternatives.
Pain Killer: JavaScript is most certainly not a superset of Java. Java and JavaScript are very different languages. The similarity of the names was done for marketing reasons, not because of any meaningful connection between the two languages.

yeah i agree with that i still prefer java script is better than any scripting language available today.

I agree JavaScript is best scripting language compare to other scripting language available. It is most powerful scripting language as many technologies revolve around JavaScript as base language. It is browser based and client side scripting language thus leverages awesome user experience.
1) Adobe Flash action script used is JavaScript.
2) Client Side validation and DHTML uses JavaScript
3) Client Side Validation: JavaScript
4) Support Regular Expression
5) Ajax & Atlas uses JavaScript. And many web controls are made from JavaScript.

Javascript is the only client side programming language which I know, hence I must say this is the best one. Otherwise I see at many sites that the scripts were not properly debugged, which may cause really hard times for the visitors especially if they are with a sensitive (ie) webbrowser.
